The brand

Primitive Skate is rapidly rising through the ranks in the skateboarding world, especially since its inception in 2008, and has managed to bridge the gap between top-shelf product and culture.

Origins and Founding Vision

In 2008, professional skateboarder Paul Rodriguez, with Heath Brinkley, Andy Netkin, Jay Partow, and Jubal Jones, started Primitive as a skate shop and apparel company in Encino, California. This was a result of Rodriguez’s desire for more creative freedom in his career, which motivated him to leave Plan B Skateboards. The huge response to an initial run of only 500 gold-foil Primitive decks led to the official launch of Primitive in April 2014.

Unique Brand Ethos

Primitive is acclaimed for its truest essence of skate culture, where streetwear fashion and functionality in skateboarding go hand in hand. The brand’s identity has also been fleshed out with collabs including Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G., Dragon Ball Z, Rick and Morty, Naruto, and Sailor Moon, embodying its roots in both music and anime cultures.

Diverse Product Range

The product line from Primitive ranges from a variety of skateboarding gear to clothes. It is known for its high-quality skateboard decks, usually with exclusive graphical designs made in collaboration with artists. Primitive also produces t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, and accessories relevant to both skateboarding and streetwear cultures.

Collaborative Endeavors

A signature of Primitive’s business strategy is its extensive collaborations with different artists and franchises. The partnerships have resulted in limited edition collections that strike a chord with varied audiences, ranging from Dragon Ball Z and Naruto to Sailor Moon. This has further expanded the brand’s appeal and cultural relevance.

Mission and Future Outlook

Primitive is committed to creating the best products that truly reflect skate culture. In the future, the brand plans to expand globally and continue with innovative projects in collaboration with talented creatives, thus securing their position as one of the leading companies in both skateboard and streetwear industries.

In summary, Primitive’s journey from a local store to a globally recognized brand underscores its dedication to quality, authenticity, and cultural engagement, ensuring its continued influence and success in the industry.
